China
The last time I went to China was 6 years ago during a cold wintertime in Shanghai, China was growing and was like a bud ready to burst into a blossoming flower.
This time round , I went there again, to Suzhou, Jiang Su and then Wei Hai , Shandong. China has developed into the factory of the world. 1st sign, polluted air.
Equiped with my pathetic pu tong hua, I survived the ordeal. The 2 cities, aren't english friendly. Wei Hai was more korean friendly than english friendly.
Not knowing pu tong hua, ordering food is a challenge. All I have gotten was bad, cold, oily food with myself. Lucky for me, I have friends cum colleagues over there, and I did get the taste of their local cuisine there. Good , nevertheless still oily to my liking.
And people here drives with their window winded down despite the heavy pollution. I hinted the driver by coughing loudly, yet he turned a deaf ear. I think I might get bronchitis if i stayed longer there.
Alcohol experience was good, but pubs and clubs are not so fun. To my liking, there are many good chinese beers. I tasted Harbin beer, Tsing Tao beer, and another variant of Harbin beer. The verdict, I like Tsing Tao. Fact, Tsing Tao is not commonly available in Suzhou and Shanghai. They are common in east china.
In Suzhou, I got to taste of Nu Er Hong. It is like a medically infused , brewed for many years kind of alcohol. How about that !!!, getting intoxicated in a healthy way. My verdict, I would say, it is very tonicly nice, sweet , herbally and alcoholic. I bought a bottle back...then my friend in Singapore tell me it is also available here.
Wei Hai experience was good. It is interesting as i was informed, 90% of the city tax comes from Korean factories. Hence it is very korean friendly and english is hardly spoken here. Lucky for me, I got my korean colleague there, so it was quite helpful.
Well...overall, China is not to my liking. Economy is definitely booming. The goverment is definitely building the country.People are hardworking. However, I still find people are more kia su than Singaporeans and rude in general. Talking very loudly in public, standing close to you until you can feel their breathing, impatient, and very aggressive driving are a few bad habits of them. Luckily I didn't saw anyone spitting.
Well, I have to go back there sometime for work again. Hopefully it will be a much better experience.
