Alcohol Rants IV

2006..i partied the most in Singapore this year. Here is a little perspective. This year, we see the transition of small to medium clubs dying, and emerging out are super-Clubs. 2007 will be the dawn of the super clubs. Before this there is only one, Zouk-Velvet-Phuture. Now we have, starting with MOS (Ministry of Sound), then come the St James PowerStation, and now Clinic.

Super Clubs are clubs under one roof occupying a large area with segmented area to caters for every popular genre. Its like a food court of party. One moment you could be chilling out with smooth jazzy music and the next moment you can end up grooving to RnB. Pretty good for a indecisive group of partygoers.

Looks like partying ain't gonna stop in Singapore. But bye bye to small clubs, unless you offer cheap drinks, we gonna end up in super clubs.

Also, undoubtly without mention there is a growing trend of wine drinking. Rochester park, Dempsey and several others are sprouting up. I wonder whats the percentage of GDP alcohol contributes to. And we got duped by the Frenchies again. First they introduced bottle water, now bottled fermented grape juice. Whats next ? escargot satay ?

Somehow this reminds me about big mega supermarts killing small mamak and neighbourhood provision shops...

and...big coffee francises killing small cafes...

and...big pharmas gobbling up small research units...

I think I will still prefer small clubs small cafes and neighbourhood mamak

it is a big-fish-eat-small-fish world....
